About Us

Established in 2022, New Forest’s Finest has quickly become the “plaice” to be for the best fish and chips in the area. Known as the flagship location for the Lee family group, this restaurant brings a dream to life for Shane, who has aspired to open his own restaurant since leaving London in 1988.

Managed and co-owned by Dean Cummings, who joined the Lee family in 2018, New Forest’s Finest represents a journey from fryer to part-owner. Dean honed his skills at J-Henry’s in Hedge End and Sonny’s in Fair Oak, working his way up from fryer to shop manager, now taking the helm at this beautiful New Forest eatery.

With both a dine-in restaurant and a separate takeaway entrance, New Forest’s Finest is perfect for those who want to enjoy their fish and chips on the go at one of the nearby parks.

Meet The Management

Introducing the management team at New Forests FinestFish and Chips

Dean Cummings – owner and manager: With over 30 year experience in the catering business ranging from a head chef role to fast food and contract catering. Dean Started working in the Fish and Chip business alongside the Lee family in April 2018 and worked in all of their chip shop businesses before becoming the manager of Sonnys fish and chips in March 2020.

In June 2022 his dream came true when he joined a partnership with the Lee family and opened New Forests Finest Fish and Chips.

Annabel Stone – Assistant Manager: Deans sister in-law and the assistant manager. Annabel worked alongside Dean in Sonnys fish and chips and followed Dean to Lyndhurst and trained to become the assistant manager. Annabel has a great rapport with the customers and is a superb allrounder.

Jade Smith – Deans daughter and supervisor. Jade has been working New Forests Finest Fish and Chips from the beginning in 2020. Jade gives excellent customer service and is the in-house trainer ranging from front of house to restaurant and frying.

Probably the best fish and chips in a long time. Clean, nice staff, good position in Lyndhurst. We had Cod and Haddock with chips and curry sauce. Would definitely recommend and we will be back in here next time we’re down this way.

The best fish I've ever had I asked if it had skin on and they said they would remove it for me, the pea fritter was lovely and the chips although not a big portion was actually just the right amount. Service was excellent very attentive staff.
